Dear Members,
Happy New Year!
We are excited for 2026 our 25th anniversary year. It is a reminder of the resilience, commitment and dedication shown by the members and leadership of this chapter over the years.
Thank you for staying engaged with our community and your commitment to the chapter. As you know, this newsletter serves as a hub for sharing updates, resources, and the stories that demonstrate the power of strong project leadership. At all times, we remain committed to upholding PMI’s core values, ethical principles, and brand standards as we support your professional journeys.
As we kickstart the year 2026, I remain proud of the team we have at the board and all the additions we have had to the board for this year. Rising from the board planning session for this year i am more confident that we will accomplish great things this year, not just because of the outstanding board members but because of all our committed members. Together we will have an amazing PMI year. Over the past year, we’ve fostered deeper engagement among members, and launched programs that have challenged us to develop new skills. These successes are not by chance—they’re a product of your commitment, collaboration, and passion for advancing the project management profession.
We’re excited about our 25th anniversary and the many plans we have for the year. We have ambitious plans to deliver even more opportunities for growth and connection. Our focus will remain on providing value to our members at every step of their professional journey. Your growth drives this chapter’s success, and with your involvement, we will continue to set new benchmarks together.

Board Leadership Update

We are pleased to share updates on our board transitions. Bricia Grothaus has moved from Vice President of Professional Development to Vice President of Membership. While, Ryan Courtney has transitioned from Vice President of Membership to President-Elect.
As President-Elect, Ryan will focus on preparing for the role of President and will officially assume this leadership position of President of our chapter by January 2027. We are confident that these changes will strengthen our board and continue to drive our chapters growth.
Meet Our New Board Member - Margo Kammeyer

Role: Vice President Of Professional Development
Margo Kammeyer, PhD, PMP, PMI-ACP joins the board as the Vice President of Professional Development for PMI WLEC. She currently works as the Director of Project Management for Information Technology Services at Bowling Green State University where she leads the IT project portfolio, governance framework and modernization initiatives aligned with institutional strategy. She also teaches Project Management in the Schmidthorst college of business, helping develop the next generation of project professionals.
Professional Background & Expertise
Margo holds a doctoral degree in Higher Education Administration and is a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt holder. With over three decades of experience in information technology focusing on project management and operations, she brings with her a research-driven, process-oriented mindset and a passion for building professional development opportunities, mentoring communities of practice and advancing project management excellence. She is committed to translating academic insight into practical growth for practitioners.
Why She’s Excited to Serve on the Board
For Margo Project management has been a steadfast and core element of her professional career, and she is deeply passionate about the impact it has on people and organizations. Serving on the board allows her the opportunity to give back to a community that has supported her growth while helping shape the future of the profession through mentoring, professional development and community engagement.
Fun Fact
Margo has completed several full Ironman races and lots of half Ironman races. The bike is her favorite- because with the right saddle(seat), you really can ride for six hours without caring!

Meet Our New Board Member - Ma Crisha Schaefer

Role: Director of Membership, PMI Western Lake Erie Chapter
Crisha joins the board as the Director of Membership. She currently works as an Internal Project Manager at Steele Solutions Inc. with over five years of experience across product management, project execution, marketing, and sales. She brings a well-rounded, cross-functional perspective to her work and to the PMI community.
Professional Background & Expertise
Crisha has led product development initiatives, supported pricing strategy decisions, and helped strengthen brand positioning. Her background includes strong analytical and execution skills, with hands-on experience in forecasting, project implementation, and business analysis. She is known for her ability to bring structure to complex initiatives while collaborating effectively across teams.
Why She’s Excited to Serve on the Board
Crisha is excited to serve on the board for the opportunity to collaborate with a dedicated and accomplished group of leaders. She looks forward to learning from fellow board members and contributing to meaningful initiatives that strengthen PMI’s impact within the community.

Crisha enjoys organizing events such as weddings, parties, and domestic trips. At her core, she is a planner who thrives on creating well-coordinated, memorable experiences.

Meet Our New Board Member - Monique Broughton

Role: Director of Administration, PMI Western Lake Erie Chapter
Monique Broughton serves as the Director of Administration for PMI WLEC. She currently works at Fortune Brands Innovations as a Finish and Material Development Engineer on the Advanced Engineering team. Monique began her career there as a co-op in 2020 and recently celebrated her five-year anniversary with the company.
Professional Background & Expertise
Monique has a strong technical background in chemical engineering and brings deep material expertise to her work. She supports new product development and continuous improvement initiatives across five different brands. Her experience includes color formulation, stain development, and ensuring finish integrity, including weatherability, fade and stain warranties, and scratch resistance. Monique is an alumnus of the University of Toledo and has also worked in the solar industry earlier in her career.
Why She’s Excited to Serve on the Board
Monique is excited to serve on the PMI WLEC board, because it is an opportunity to step into a leadership role, and learn more about PMI. She looks forward to collaborating with industry leaders and members of the local community to create meaningful impact. Monique also hopes to bring fresh, innovative ideas that will help engage students and recent graduates.
Fun Fact
Monique has a passion for design. She and her husband own a real estate business where they flip, sell, and rent properties in the Toledo metro area. Most recently, Monique became the owner of Bayside Hall in Oregon, Ohio, as they continue to grow their portfolio.

Although she is fairly new to PMI WLEC, Monique is eager to learn and get involved. She describes herself as a “sponge” and looks forward to learning from fellow board members, chapter members, and speakers throughout the year.

Did you notice the anniversary logo? PMI Global designed it to celebrate our chapter’s 25th anniversary and set the stage for an exciting year ahead. We’ll be rolling out plans for the celebration soon. Stay tuned!
Annual Member Meeting 2025

The Annual member meeting provided an opportunity to recap our achievements for the year 2025. We had an exciting time recapping the year 2025 but importantly we are more excited for 2026. We experienced growth on several indices. It was also an evening to dine and network.
